HAPPY NEW YEAR 2013 FROM POLITICO MAFIOSO
ALL OF US HERE AT POLITICO MAFIOSO WANT TO WISH YOU & YOURS A VERY HAPPY AND SAFE NEW YEAR 2013!
THANKS TO ALL OF YOU, OUR LOYAL READERS, PM HAD IT'S BEST YEAR EVER!
WE WILL CONTINUE TO WORK HARD TO BRING YOU INSIDE OF ARIZONA & NATIONAL POLITICS IN 2013!
ARIZONA CARDINALS FIRE KEN WHISENHUNT & ROD GRAVES!
According to ESPN's Adam Sheffner, the Arizona Cardinals today fired Head Coach KEN WHISENHUNT & GM ROD GRAVES!
I have called for Whiz' head for the past 2 seasons.
7 NFL coaches have been fired on what they call 'Black Monday' in the NFL! Fox 10's Jude LaCava last night on 'Sports Night' thinks former Cards OC TODD HALEY maybe the favorite of the Bidwill's to replace Whisenhunt.
Dave Burns of 'Burns & Gambo' reports that insiders say that STEVE KEIM has the inside track for GM, & that RAY HORTON, the Cards great DC, might become Head Coach!
KUDOS to Michael Bidwill for having the guts to do what is right! To eat $5.5 Million in Whisenhunt's salary is a big deal! Change is good! More on this later....
Russell Pearce's "Wee Man" Rob Haney Crushed Like a Bug - By Stephen Lemons - Feathered Bastard
Outgoing Maricopa County Republican Party Chair Rob Haney, slavish BFF to recalled, disgraced ex-state Senate President Russell Pearce, has had his wrinkled, leprechaun fanny handed to him by the non-Pearce-worshipping faction of the Legislative District 25 Republicans.
I informed you yesterday about the federal lawsuit against Haney and his cretinous far-right crew of crazies, who, essentially, didn't like the way two November 29 votes went down in that district.
So Haney scrapped both of them and ordered new elections to take place on January 9.

In response, LD 25's new, duly-elected officers filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against Haney and the MCRC on Christmas Eve, alleging that Haney and his underlings ran roughshod over the GOP's own bylaws, illegally invalidated the elections of new officers and state committee members, violated Arizona's open meetings law, and trashed the rights of the new officers under the U.S. Constitution.
Reportedly, Haney was personally served yesterday, and it didn't take him long to cave like a little wuss to all of the demands of the non-crazy "RiNOS" he so despises.
In an e-mail today from attorney Kory Langhofer, who is representing LD 25's new leadership, Langhofer proffered a list of settlement terms to Haney: accept the new slate of officers as legit, forget about that bogus January 9 meeting, and accept the outcome of the January 2 redo election of state committee persons.
Read attorney Kory Langhofer's notice to the U.S. District Court.
Point four of Langhofer's demands is particularly important, considering the fact that Russell Pearce apparently did not submit a "Candidacy Declaration Form" as required by the LD 25 bylaws, and therefore may not be allowed on LD 25's state committee ballot come January 2.
If Pearce does not become a state committeeman, he cannot be nominated from the floor for the chairmanship of the Arizona Republican Party at its state committee meeting on January 26, a move many have considered a distinct possibility.
"You will certify the State Committeemen who are elected from LD25 at the January 2nd
meeting," reads point four of the Langhofer demands.

What has Harry Reid done? By Rick Manning - NetRightDaily
What has Harry Reid done?
As originally published at TheHill.com.
By Rick Manning
Nothing is more infuriating than hearing a politician who has failed to act in six months on a single piece of legislation to end a crisis complaining about someone who has strenuously worked to produce a solution to the problem.
Harry Reid, also known as the Duke of
Do-Nothing, is just such a whiny specimen.
The Senate majority leader’s pronouncement that there is not time for Congress to act to avoid the “fiscal cliff” is both arrogant and absurd.
His finger-pointing at the Republicans is even more infuriating.
Memo to Harry: the House of Representatives passed legislation to prevent going over the cliff — it simply extends the Bush tax cuts. The House also passed legislation replacing the sequestration cuts that were part of Harry’s only accomplishment of the past two years, with alternative cuts.
Reid has failed to act on either bill.
In fairness, while Reid hasn’t bothered to produce a budget for more than three years out of fear of creating a political issue that might depose him from his Lordship over DumDumville, his Senate did pass legislation this summer that dramatically raised taxes on everyone making more than $250,000 a year.
Of course now, Reid is refusing to compromise off that position, which coincidentally isn’t far removed from Speaker John Boehner’s “Plan B” solution — a plan Reid summarily dismissed.
By refusing to reach a compromise with House Republicans, Reid is playing a dangerous game aiming for complete victory through the political neutering of his foes. His plan depends upon a complicit media to blame the Republicans, while not mentioning the ramifications of his rejection of the white-flag-waving Boehner’s Plan B offer.
When we go over the fiscal cliff, it will not be because House Republicans failed to pass legislation that prevented it. It will be because Harry Reid chose to pursue a course that guaranteed that outcome.
The truth is that Democrats want higher taxes, not just on the wealthy, but on the rest of us who are not yet part of the dependency state they have built. The fiscal cliff just gives them the ideal opportunity to impose them, while blaming the Republicans.
The truth is that the Democrats want defense cuts imposed, and they love to see the House Republicans getting the blame.
The truth is that every American who pays taxes is likely to see their paychecks shrink next year because Reid would rather play politics in the expectation that he can affix the blame to his political foes.
That’s the sad situation in Washington, D.C., where politics trumps everything else. And if you think this “fight” has been tough, wait until you see what happens with the upcoming debt ceiling and Continuing Resolution wars.
Those who are faint of heart need to turn away, because you ain’t seen nothing yet.

Russell Pearce's Mad Elf Rob Haney: Sued on Christmas Eve by Stephen Lemons - Feathered Bastard
Great article by Stephen
Lemons of the New Times on MCRC Fuhrer Rob
Haney:
What two things do Maricopa County GOP Chairman Rob Haney and erstwhile
Chinese Communist Party Chairman Mao Zedong have in common?
Each despises democracy, and each boasts a brain dipped in formaldehyde.

Okay, in Mao's case that should be past tense, because he's past tense. And Haney, well, he just resembles a corpse.
Read the federal lawsuit against Haney filed Christmas Eve.
Indeed, the wee-man, who loves carrying H2O for recalled, disgraced two-time loser and former state Senate President Russell Pearce, has been a veritable Tasmanian devil of late.
First, Haney's head practically exploded during a November 29 meeting of the Legislative District 25 Republicans, where two votes took place: one for new officers, and the other for state committee persons to represent LD 25 at a state committee meeting scheduled for January 26.
Pissed at the outcome, and the fact that his favored pro-Pearce slate lost in Pearce's own Mesa district, Haney reportedly told all and sundry that fraud was afoot. And he threatened to get his pal Sheriff Joe Arpaio involved.
Before you know it, Haney (allegedly) was violatin' bylaws left and right (mostly right, natch), empowering an ad hoc investigative committee to look into the supposed "fraud," and ultimately overturning the results of both November 29 votes, even though it was only the state committee election that apparently had any problems associated with it.
One of these problems was that some of those running for the state committee, including Haney's pal Pearce, apparently had not submitted the proper paperwork to be considered as candidates.
So, like a mini-me version of an Egyptian Emperor of old, Haney solved this problem with a clap of his hands: ordering new rules for the election, allowing anyone who wanted to run to submit the required form.
Emperor Haney then ordered new elections to take place January 9, to be overseen by the previous LD 25 leadership, which is decidedly pro-Pearce.
This will be seven days after a legitimate January 2 meeting called by LD 25 PCs, for a do-over of the state committee election, to be overseen by the new LD 25 officers.
And now, as of Christmas Eve, there's a civil rights lawsuit against Haney in federal court filed on behalf of the LD 25 officers Haney recently un-elected.
The complaint charges that Haney has far exceeded his authority as county chair, trampling over state law, GOP bylaws, and the U.S. Constitution.
Plaintiffs in the suit ask the court to issue an order, forcing Haney to back off and cancel the revote he's scheduled, while allowing the revote on the state committee persons from LD 25 to be overseen by the officers elected on November 29
Most deliciously, the complaint asks the court to award the plaintiffs the legal fees incurred to bring the action.

Jon Kyl - The Indispensable Man - Weekly Standard
Arizona’s Jon Kyl retires from the Senate.
There’s a wise old saying that no one in politics or elected
office is indispensable. But Republican senator Jon Kyl of Arizona comes pretty
close.
Now that Kyl is
retiring after 8 years in the House and 18 in the Senate, his absence will be
felt instantly. He knows more about more issues than anyone else in
Congress—ranging from missile defense to the estate tax. His influence was
magnified less by his position as Senate minority whip since 2007 than by his
ability to deal respectfully with both Republican and Democratic senators, even
those with the biggest egos.
For conservatives, Kyl was their
link to the Republican leadership in Congress. He was trusted like few others.
Jim DeMint of South Carolina, who worked as a Senate outsider to foster
conservative issues, told me Kyl was his “advocate on the inside.” Kyl’s
conservatism was undiminished by the seductions of Washington. He wasn’t part of
the Washington social scene.
Kyl never packaged a set of rules for gaining influence on
Capitol Hill. But after covering Kyl for years and interviewing him numerous
times—twice recently—I’m taking the liberty of formulating five Kyl rules. I
doubt he’ll object.
Rule one: Know more. “If you know a lot about a subject,
people will listen,” he says. After Kyl’s farewell speech on the Senate floor
last week, Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama said, “I serve on the Armed Services
Committee, and I’ve found he knows more about those issues than I do.” Kyl has
never been on the committee.
Kyl’s insistence on absorbing the details of complex issues
was the key to what he regards as his proudest achievement: defeat of the
Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty in 1999. Ratification had been considered a cinch.
But senators gradually deferred to his “personal involvement and deep subject
matter expertise,” says Frank Gaffney of the Center for Security Policy. The
treaty was beaten, 51-48.
Now Democratic senators and the Obama White House are getting
ready to seek ratification in 2013—once Kyl has left the Senate.
Rule two: Don’t seek credit. Kyl adheres to the sign that
President Reagan had on his White House desk: “There’s no limit to what a man
can do or where he can go if he doesn’t mind who gets the credit.” As number two
in the Republican leadership, Kyl says, “A lot of times it’s better if somebody
else takes the lead.”
He was appalled by the “sequester” requiring deep cuts in
defense. “I probably wouldn’t have voted for it if I weren’t in the leadership,”
he says. When Senator Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire asked to lead the fight to
restore the spending, he turned the issue over to her without hesitation.
Well before he became whip, Kyl was adept at handing off
issues. In 2006, Time wrote, “he has succeeded by mastering a tactic
that is crucial in a body in which any one member can bring the place to a halt
as a ploy or out of pique: subterfuge.” Kyl told the magazine that “you can
accomplish a lot if you’re not necessarily out in front on everything.” And he
has.
Rule three: Don’t get a big head. Kyl learned this from his
father, a GOP House member from Iowa for six terms. (Kyl moved to Arizona for
college, then stayed.) When they parked at the county fair in Bloomfield, Iowa,
Kyl senior pointed to the man in charge of parking. “He does that better than
anyone else,” his father said. “Everybody can do something better than you
can.”
This example, Kyl says, “always made me appreciate other
people and think I’m not such a big shot. . . [so] just don’t get a big head.”
Kyl hasn’t. Quite the contrary. He’s known for his humility.
Rule four: Treat everyone decently. Kyl isn’t unique in
following this rule. He’s just practiced it more consistently. Like avoiding
self-puffery, he learned it from his father. The lesson “was about human
nature,” he says. “You’re not going to change human nature.”
From all appearances, treating people decently comes
naturally to Kyl. But it also produces results. People respond more favorably.
“You can best accomplish [your goals] by being a decent person to those around
you,” he says. If someone disagrees with him, he doesn’t take umbrage. “He
treats all people alike,” a colleague says. He’s a listener.
Rule five: Keep your principles. Kyl sees himself as Dick
Cheney to Mitch McConnell’s George W. Bush. When he was being considered as
Bush’s vice presidential running mate, Cheney told Bush he was “really, really
conservative.”
Kyl is very, very conservative. His mild, reasonable manner can
fool people. Heritage Foundation president Ed Feulner saw him as the “bridge”
between the conservative movement and Republican congressional leaders.

'Twas the night before Christmas & out on the ranch
The pond was froze over & so was the branch.
The snow was piled up belly-deep to a mule.
The kids were all home on vacation from school,
And happier young folks you never did see-
Just all sprawled around a-watchin' TV.
Then suddenly, some time around 8 o'clock,
There came a surprise that gave them a shock!
The power went off, the TV went dead!
When Grandpa came in from out in the shed
With an armload of wood, the house was all dark.
"Just what I expected," they heard him remark.
"Them power line wires must be down from the snow.
Seems sorter like times on the ranch long ago."
"I'll hunt up some candles," said Mom. "With their light,
And the fireplace, I reckon we'll make out all right."
The teen-agers all seemed enveloped in gloom.
Then Grandpa came back from a trip to his room,
Uncased his old fiddle & started to play
That old Christmas song about bells on a sleigh.
Mom started to sing, & 1st thing they knew
Both Pop & the kids were all singing it, too.
They sang Christmas carols, they sang "Holy Night,"
Their eyes all a-shine in the ruddy firelight.
They played some charades Mom recalled from her youth,
And Pop read a passage from God's Book of Truth.
They stayed up till midnight-and, would you believe,
The youngsters agreed 'twas a fine Christmas Eve.
Grandpa rose early, some time before dawn;
And when the kids wakened, the power was on..
"The power company sure got the line repaired quick,"
Said Grandpa - & no one suspected his trick.
Last night, for the sake of some old-fashioned fun,
He had pulled the main switch - the old Son-of-a-Gun!
